Colliding with You by Kelli McCracken

Today I feature a book from guest author Kelli McCracken. Enjoy!

Cori Clarke spent twenty-one years walking in her sister's shadow. Being her bridesmaid is a duty she cannot refuse, even though her sister is marrying a man Cori always desired. The wedding is not a total loss once she runs into Jesse Woods, the older brother of her childhood friend. There are plenty of reasons to resist him, yet part of Cori is begging for Jesse's touch. Regardless of how hard she fights against her desire, an exposed secret leaves her in urgent need of his help.

A complicated relationship is the last thing Jesse wants or needs. Being in a band left little time to find a girl genuinely interested in him, not the rock star he was becoming. Before he and Cori reconnected, he never thought he would be attracted to one of his sister's friends. Cori always meant more to him but admitting as much means confessing to something he has hidden for years. He cannot afford to make himself vulnerable to any woman.

When Jesse's agent makes a ridiculous request, he spins it in his favor, allowing him to help Cori escape a dire situation. Now that she is his responsibility, he is in an awkward position. Being together dredges up old feelings. The ones Jesse has tried to forget. The ones Cori is just discovering.

Colliding with You is the second book in the Touched by Magic Series. If you like contemporary romances packed full of sass, steam, and second chances, then you’ll enjoy Kelli McCracken’s sensual tale of love and loyalty.

My Book of Pets, by Catherine Hargreaves, aged 8

It is surprising what comes to light when you lose a relative. At the weekend I went to collect some items from my grandparents’ house prior to it being sold on in probate. My dad had told me about some photos and papers he had discovered, but I had forgotten one document in particular that he mentioned: My Book of Pets, by Catherine Hargreaves, aged 8.

Yes, apparently, I was destined to be an author from a very young age. I created this booklet when I just 8 years old, and it is very cute. And today, while at home recovering from her surgery, my daughter has created her very own book of pets that we can keep alongside my vintage document from 1990. Precious memories!

Life Adventures give Inspiration

I am in hospital. Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to be exact. My eldest daughter was admitted at the weekend in a flurry of chaos following a short illness. You can read the full story over on my pagan housewife blog, but for now I will share a little about my experience.

We have become familiar with visiting hospitals during the past four years when my father-in-law had a serious cycling accident. Now I am experiencing the life of a patient, a child patient to be exact. My daughter is 7 and wants me with her throughout the whole unpleasant experience, so I am camping beside her hospital bed. All of the activity, the various departments we have visited, the two hospitals and the associated flurry of chaos, has been like fuel for my writer brain. It will go into my novels at some point in the future. I will give my characters elements of the people I have met, I will use the locations as settings, and all sorts of other little features that help to build a story. Even in the darkest times, we can create magic.

*Special Offer* The Darkness of Love by Catherine Green

I have a special treat for you, my friends! Today I share a limited special offer discount code for you to download my Victorian vampire romance novel, The Darkness of Love. This was a spin-off from the Redcliffe Novels that I wrote several years ago, and it tells the story of Marcus Scott and his transition from human to vampire.

A Victorian vampire lord seeks an heir for his estate in this English Gothic novel with passion and flair.

Lord Gregory Stockton is a powerful and respected businessman embracing the modern era of the Victorian industrial revolution. He has a grand and beautiful manor house complete with a repertoire of servants, and his young wife is charming, attractive, and the perfect lady to his gentleman. The only thing they lack is an heir to the family estate. Lord Gregory knows he can never produce a child, for he is a vampire, although his wife and servants know nothing of his secrets. There are other ways to provide heirs for his estate, however, and Lord Gregory has noticed the romantic attraction between his wife and the young stable hand Marcus Scott. He hatches a plan to bring the would-be lovers together, and then cruelly tear them apart as he continues to build his empire and secure his power base in the south of England. The humans are pawns in the vampires game of lust, love and control.

Vampire of Blackpool by Catherine Green

British paranormal romance author Catherine Green has taken a break from her Redcliffe novels series set in Cornwall, and has launched her brand-new novel, Vampire of Blackpool. A contemporary English Gothic story, it tells the tale of vampire Meredith Hanson, her love interest Samantha Morris, and her rival, the vampire hunter Ryan James. The novel is strictly for an adult audience, and Catherines vampires do not sparkle!

Excerpt:
What are you doing here, Meredith? Samantha asked.
I smiled but said nothing. Samantha looked at Ryan James. She frowned.
Did you do this to him? she asked, moving forward but keeping the bed as a barrier between me and her.
She leaned forward, appraising her patient with a professional eye. She took in the sling on his arm, the cuts and bruises all over his skin, and the large bandage on his left shoulder. She reached over and carefully lifted a corner of it, and her eyes widened. She knew the truth.
Why did you do this? she asked, And why are you here now?

Writing in the Background

It occurred to me recently that I haven’t done any proper writing so far this year. By that I mean I haven’t worked on any of my novels. The only writing I currently do is the freelance blog writing on my SpookyMrsGreen blog. My time has been stolen away by domestic dramas and related activity. The main issue is my house. We are currently trying to sell so that we can upsize and get me a proper office space, but our house has been on the market for almost a year and so far, nobody wants it.
I need an office, not my dining room table!
Apparently, the first-time buyers that we seek don’t want to put the work in to make our house pretty again. It is old, built in 1896, but it is a good sized 2-bed terrace, and it is solid, cosy and warm. For now, I veer between desperately wanting to redecorate and try to make it appealing, to constantly moving toys around to try and give us more floor space, to doing the constant round of cleaning and tidying that comes of having a family and preparing for house viewings (we have one later today). My writing will resume eventually.
