My Vampire Boyfriend (A Redcliffe Anthology) by Catherine Green

After a while we lay cuddled together on the beach. The sand was cold, hardly a tropical oasis, but it was still beautiful. Jack went to fetch a picnic from the boat, and he returned with a cool box full of food, a bottle of red wine, and a blanket for us to sit on. We shared a very normal, very human lunch, although Jack only drank the wine. He watched me eat, and we chatted about mundane things. I finally began to relax, and I felt my shoulders loosen just a little. I snuggled against his strong body, inhaling his scent, stroking his bare arm with my fingertips as I lay on my side with one arm flung across his chest.

“Do you remember what it was like,” I asked, “To be human?”

When Jessica Met Marcus in Love Hurts (A Redcliffe Novel)

Marcus reached up to stroke my hair and I was suddenly alert, sobered by his inappropriate behaviour. I tried to push him away.

Marcus please,” I said, trying not to sound feeble, “Im with Jack, I dont know what you are expecting.

“Shush, Jessica,” Marcus replied in a soothing tone, “Jack won’t mind. Trust me.

He leaned his face close to me, and his body was firm and heavy. He was too strong for me to move. I tried to struggle but he pinned my arms at my sides. I began to panic. I tried to raise my voice, but my throat was hoarse, maybe from the alcohol.

Marcus, stop,” I pleaded, “Please stop, youre hurting me!

I collapsed into blind panic as he lifted his head, his face pale, and his eyes wild. He opened his mouth and I tried to scream. He was going to bite me! Suddenly he was pulled away and slammed into the ground across the car park. I saw Danny standing before me. He glared at Marcus.

What did we tell you?” he demanded, “She is with Jack; she is not yours to take. Leave us!

Why Won’t You Let Me Speak?: Topical New Book Teaches Women to ‘Grab the Mic’ at Work and in Life

Written by Sara Harling, ‘Why Won’t You Let Me Speak?’ Is sure to resonate with women (and men) all over the world. The book is a must-read for anyone who struggles with feelings of alienation and frustration, wondering if they’re just not loud enough at work or home. Harling outlines why women are often interrupted, and provides practical advice to have readers feeling confident in every aspect of their lives.

A recent study by George Washington University found that men interrupted women 33 percent more often during conversations than they did when they were speaking with other men. Supreme Court Justices aren’t even safe from this alarming trend - another study found that over the past twelve years in the United States Supreme Court, 32 percent of all interruptions were male justices speaking over their female counterparts. It’s a phenomena that author Sara Harling knows well, and it forms the basis of her new book, Why Won’t You Let Me Speak?

Concise, compelling and practical, Why Won’t You Let Me Speak? is a handbook for every woman in today’s workplace - full of the skills that women need to survive, and guidance on how to speak up and be heard.

Synopsis:

“Why won’t you let me speak?”

Does this feel like you - constantly being interrupted at work? Sat in a room with people and wanting to talk, but for some reason, you can’t get a word in edgeways? Have you ever felt that way? You’re in a meeting and as you’re talking, someone else starts to talk over you, interrupts you and takes over the conversation. Ouch! Do you spend time overthinking and wondering why this keeps happening again and again? Do you feel like no one is listening and you can’t be heard?

Then stop!

This book will give you tools and skills to help improve your communication skills and boost your confidence in any situation. You will find out why this keeps happening to you and how to change things quickly and easily. You will be able to contribute to that meeting, build your self-esteem and confidence and handle any situation you may face at work, or indeed, in your personal life.

Take back control over your work, your career and even your relationships with family and friends and get the life and career you deserve.

It’s time for Direct Talk.

“What’s interesting is that men are reading the book in droves,” says Harling. “I think in this #MeToo era, men do feel more of a responsibility to really listen to their colleagues and friends - more so than they may have felt in the past. They’re interested in shutting down problematic behaviours from colleagues, and giving women the chance to shine.”

Continuing, “I think women internalize this idea that ‘no one likes a strong woman’ - it’s just not true. Speaking up and having your voice heard isn’t something that only men get to enjoy - women can do it too, and I promise - it will change every facet of your life!”

Reviews have touted the “eye-opening” nature of the book, with readers giving it an enthusiastic five stars on Amazon.

“Full of great tips to ensure you will be heard and also be confident. Don’t be afraid of putting your point across in meetings. Read this book. It makes you realise your voice can be heard and that your points are valid,” wrote Sharan Madeley.

S Hitchings agreed, writing, “A very honest account of communication and confidence, it made me stop and think many times! It’s condensed enough not to put off reading until you have time, which makes it an excellent reference tool as you can reread and reflect easily. Really is a very helpful and insightful tool, would highly recommend.”

Why Won’t You Let Me Speak? Is available now:

Suspicious Werewolves in Love Kills (A Redcliffe Novel)

Should you return to the wolves’ lair when you almost died in their fight a month ago?

Our heroine, Jessica Stone, knows she should stay well away from danger, but something draws her to the alpha, and then there’s her best friend who just happens to be the werewolf lieutenant. How can she turn her back on them now?

Excerpt from Love Kills (A Redcliffe Novel) Book 2

Danny stared straight at me with familiar deep blue, hypnotic eyes. It was as though I was staring at Jack, and I struggled to collect myself. His voice was soft, gentle, and even sensual. I was very aware of his hands on my shoulders, the strength in his body.
“They know I am fond of you Jessica,” he said quietly, “I cannot deny that. And I have never invited humans into our lair before. My wolves are mistrustful because the females want to offer themselves as my mate. The position would elevate their individual power and control, and for them it is a desirable role.”
I slowly took in what he was saying.
“So, they think that I want to be your mate?” I asked slowly.
Danny nodded.
“But that’s crazy,” I exclaimed, “I don’t want to be a werewolf! I mean…”
I faltered, embarrassed and Danny smiled.
“It’s fine Jessica,” he said, “do not worry. Of course you don’t want to be a wolf, you are in love with Jack. I have no desire to change you in that way.”
He stopped and swallowed slowly, then fixed that intense gaze on me again.
“But I do have strong feelings for you Jessica,” he continued, “I cannot deny that. And the wolves know it. They are jealous because I do not show the same attraction to them.”

Ooh, now it’s getting interesting! Will Jessica succumb to the alpha wolf, or will she stay true to her vampire boyfriend? Read the book to get the whole story. Click here.

Let’s Talk About Books: The Redcliffe Novels by Catherine Green

Today I talk about Love Redeems (A Redcliffe Novel), book 3 in the Redcliffe Novels series set in Cornwall, England.

  1. What is the working title of your book?

Love Redeems (A Redcliffe Novel) – Book 3

  1. Where did the idea for the book come from?

It came naturally after I wrote the first book, Love Hurts (A Redcliffe Novel) and the sequel Love Kills (A Redcliffe Novel).

  1. What genre does your work fall under?

It is paranormal romance, with a little dark fantasy and some horror elements.

  1. Which actors would you choose to play your characters?

Hmm, so far, I am struggling to decide on the right ones. For my heroine Jessica Stone I need a British woman with a convincing Manchester accent, long auburn hair, and green eyes. For the Mason brothers I need identical twins from Dublin with black hair and blue eyes… Any up and coming actors interested in the roles please?

     5. What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

Emotion runs high in this fast-paced paranormal adventure, where secrets unfold, and friends are not as they seem…

  1. Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

It will be published in partnership with Mirador, who produced my first two novels in the series.

     7. How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

About four or five months, I think. Once I had written the first two, this one just couldn’t wait.

     8. What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

It probably has elements of the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, but I aspire to write like Laurell K Hamilton and her Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series, but with less horrific violence and a British perspective.

      9. Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I can’t really remember. My first novel, Love Hurts (A Redcliffe Novel), was cultivated in my mind for around ten years before I actually wrote it down. It first came about when I read the Nightworld series of novels by L. J. Smith and decided I wanted my own version of a vampire story with characters I could more easily relate to. Love Redeems (A Redcliffe Novel) is a natural progression from that, using experiences gained from my life during recent years.

     10. What else about your book might pique the readers’ interest?

It is set in Cornwall and describes the rugged coastline and old smugglers’ caves. There is a best friend with a new baby, two women running a business, and some interesting moral issues explored.

My Vampire Boyfriend (ARedcliffe Short Story Anthology) is a Kindle exclusive book that contains adult content and reveals the true nature of vampires, witches and werewolves when they are not battling for power and control.

Excerpt from Love Redeems (A Redcliffe Novel) Book 3:

A silence fell around us, and I could feel our energies shifting in the air.  Mine was turbulent, full of anger and anxiety.  Jack’s was cold and controlling.  Danny’s power was hot, forceful and full of promise.  Simon’s was similar but with less strength.  Eventually I moved backwards, feeling the need to break the tense emotion that filled the air.
“Jack,” I said, “You should get going.  You have work to do.”
He blinked, the only movement he made.
“Yes,” he said, and then he stepped forward to give me a kiss.  It was a peck on the lips, and he hugged me briefly, “You can control her,” he said, catching my eyes with his, “And you will resolve things with Liz.”
Tears choked me suddenly.  I swallowed, forcing them back as I stepped away from Jack.
“Thanks,” I said, “See you later.”
He left with a brief nod to Danny and Simon.  When the door closed behind him I looked at the two wolves standing in my kitchen.  Both looked like stereotypical surfer dudes.  Danny was wearing khaki trousers with a bright yellow t-shirt that had a crazy abstract print on it.  Simon was wearing black baggy shorts with a green t-shirt.  His blonde hair fell in unruly waves around his face, and his sunglasses were hooked into the front of the t-shirt.  I hadn’t even noticed the sun shining outside, although I did feel the unusual warmth of this early autumn day.
“Ok,” I said with a sigh, “Shall we go and watch TV like normal people?”

Return of the Vampire Hunter by Catherine Green

Return of the Vampire Hunter is pure urban fantasy with a hint of seduction thrown in for good measure. Set in Manchester, Northern England, it is a contemporary story with all the darkness of classic Gothic monsters.

She and the vampire fought almost to the death, and now it seems that the vampire has tracked her down. Hannah must return to work, grudgingly accepting help from a new hunting partner, and she is determined that this time she will finish the job. But can she ignore the old lust for her vampire lover? Is the mother able to be a vampire hunter one more time? And will her marriage survive the ordeal?

Return of the Vampire Hunter is available from Amazon US; Amazon UK and in your favourite eBook store – Click here.

Excerpt:

We were on the motorway and I was in the passenger seat. I had been passing food to the children in the back seat, and as I twisted back round to face forward, I glanced at James. My heart skipped a beat and then pounded heavily as the world spun around me.
“What is that on your neck?” I asked sharply.
James glanced at me and then checked his mirrors as he moved into the middle lane.
            “What?” he asked absently.
“That,” I said, “On your neck.”
I reached across and gently touched the mark on his skin. It looked like two small, neat puncture wounds. A vampire bite. Shit.
James touched the bruise, winced, and then shook his head.
“I don’t know,” he said, “I must have cut myself shaving.”
“That is not a shaving wound,” I said.
He glanced at me again and frowned.
“Why are you so upset about it?” he asked curiously, “It’s nothing.”
I stared at the tiny wound as my whole world flipped upside down. Was it Elaine? Had she finally found me? Or was it another stray vampire? One thing was certain; I had to return to work. This one had to be destroyed before it came for my whole family. Gathering my senses, I shook my head and smiled.
“Oh, forget it,” I said lightly, “It looked more serious at first, that’s all. But if it doesn’t hurt then it doesn’t matter. Can you see the sea yet, girls?”

Heart of the Vampire (A Redcliffe Novel) by Catherine Green

“You have to feed, Jack,” I insisted, “And you cannot use me. We tried that before and you almost killed me, remember?”
“You found a way to survive,” my vampire replied gruffly.
I laughed, but it was not amusement that brought such a reaction.
“I survived,” I said, emphasizing the word, “because of your brother. Danny saved me. He sacrificed his wolves so that I could claw back some human strength. Maybe that’s what caused this…” I gestured to the empty space on the bed behind me, “thing with Suri.”
“Perhaps,” Jack replied quietly, “But the point is, you survived.”
